Abstract:

The directional relationship is one of the key theoretical issues in GIS. This paper focuses on the qualitative representation of the directional rela  tionship and reasoning. First, the qualitative representation of the directional relationship based on the space with neutral zone is discussed. Then, t he qualitative reasoning of the directional rdationship based on the composition operation table of the directional relationship is presented. Finally,   we conclude by mentioning some current and future research trends and summarizing our work.
