Abstract:

In this paper, we put forward a new method based on XML for text planning, named KB（knowledge base）- Information-Plan. It is a layered strategy of p lanning. The high level uses the marrow of the RST theory to plan the text＇s general structure in a flexible way. The bottom level uses the marrow of tthe Schema method to plan every sub-text span fast. In order to alleviate the difficulty of realizing the RST theory, we introduce XML, and propose an idea, which uses frames to represent the communion information in XML and constructing object-oriented KB based on special rules, named XML-KIK The method fits for the text generation system, which draws information from the existing repository, according to a certain confirmed goal. And, the method cove rs the advantages offered by Schema and RST.
