Abstract:

The key to realizing the semantic Web is to mark up the Web resources, such as Web pages and services, using ontology terms. Ontology-based annotation  prototypes support content providers to add semantic metadata to Web pages and make machines and humans understand. This paper first makes a chief intr oduction of current ontology-based semantic annotation prototypes, then makes a survey on them from several facets and compares them, and finally points out their shortcomings.
