ROAM算法及其在地形可视化中的应用

摘要:

三维地形可视化是GIS、计算机仿真、虚拟现实等领域中的关键技术之一,而基于多层次细节的实时优化自适应网格动态地形渲染算法(ROAM)凭借其简单性和可扩展性成为解决海量高程数据地形可视化的常用方法。本文详细介绍了ROAM算法的原理及其特点,进而针对实际应用提出对算法的改进,并进行了具体实现。实验结果表明,使用ROAM技术能
 够真实地反映地形面貌。改进后的算法避免了ROAM对视点距离的敏感性,提高了运算速度,能够满足三维地形场景显示的应用需求。

Abstract:

3D terrain visualization is one of the key techniques in GIS,computer simulation and virtual reality.The ROAM algorithm is based on multiple levels of detail.Its simplicity and expansibility make it a common terrain visualization method.This paper presents the theory and characteristics of the ROAM al   gorithm.Then the authors give an improved algorithm and its implementation based on ROAM according to practical applications.The experimental results sh ow that the ROAM algorithm can authentically realize terrain visualization,and the improved algorithm can avoid the sensitivity of ROAM on viewpoint dis   tances.Thus the computing speed is increased and the application demands are satisfied.
