Abstract:

The geocasting protocol is the protocol delivering packets to all nodes which are within a specified geographical area. The current geoeasting protoco ls are all applied to dense networks. This paper presents a directed Geocast routing protocol. According to the position of mobile nodes, the proposed p  rotocol divides the flooding of control packets into two paris., the restricted flooding creates routes between the sender and the Geocast nodes nearby,    the directed flooding creates routes between the sender and the nodes that are faraway from other Geocast nodes. The simulation results show that the new protocol improves the performance in sparse ad hoc networks.
