Abstract:

Based on energy preservation and the compactness characteristics and the filtering characteristics ot DCT (dtscrete cosine transform), an improved f ast fractal image encoding approach is presented. Firstly, to exclude the unmatching image blocks, the vertical space frequency and the horizontal space frequency are extracted as the feature parameters of image blocks. Then, in the DCT domain, range blocks and domain blocks with similar features do sim  ilar matching by considering both low frequency and intermediate-high frequency parameters. Experimental results show the validity of the presented appr  oach in improving the speed of fractal encoding and holding the decoding quality.
