Abstract:
The paper studies the high delay problem for the decoding of Turbo code, analyses the SNR based on the absolute value of extrinsic information outputted by the decoder, makes use of its convergence trait, and proposes a new stopping criterion of turbo code, which is named the SBAE criterion. Compared to other classical stopping criterions, the new criterion saves lots of memories. Analyzing the performance of Turbo code and the average number of iterations, it can be concluded that the new criterion reduces the average number of iterations efficiently, satisfies the need of bit error rate performance, accelerates the decoding process, improves the decoding efficiency, and provides an effective method for the Turbo code applied in a realtime system.
