Study on the Locating Precision of Target’s Height Based on 3R and the Atmospheric Refraction

Abstract:

The high precision of target locating can be achieved by directly using the information of distances that measured by radars with no transformations in application. The locating precision of target can be reduced by the interference of atmospheric refraction in distance measurement. But atmospheric refraction reduced the locating precision with the interference brought into measuring. Using the locating model of 3R, the target’s ideal spatial position can be gained. Then, combined with improved equivalent earthradius refraction model which has taken atmospheric refraction into consideration, the height above sea level can be solved. Finally, by weighting the heights calculated by three stations through different methods, the atmospheric refraction modified value of target in different height can be achieved, the simulation shows that the locating precision has been improved, and the system’s fighting ability also been ulteriorly enhanced.
