Abstract:
Traditional low dynamic range display devices fail to demonstrate high dynamic range image information. To solve this problem, we propose a multi-scale Retinex method for tone mapping. We employ the guided filtering to decompose the original HDR image into the light layer and the reflecting layer. A basic layer and a series of detail layers are obtained via multi-scale decomposition of the reflecting layer. Finally the detail layers and the base layer are combined with color recovery. Experimental results show that the proposed method can well restore the information of real scenarios and provide more details, better contrast and bright color.
