Abstract: Based on region-scanning, this paper proposes a new idea to detect the human face in a picture, It can lower the computing amount and increase the calculation speed. Based on the experiments with the ORL face image database and the MIT/CMU test set,we use the support vector machine （SVM） to make the system feature strong learining ability and improve its detection validity.
