Abstract:

This essay discusses the importance of the shadow technology in distributed directory services, proposes a kind of shadow strategy and a directory res olution algorithm. According to the X. 500 agreement suggested by ITU, it gives a CORBA-based, efficient, easy-to-expand and easy-to-upgrade distributed  directory service solution. And finally the robust- ness of resolution supported by the shadom mechanism over the whole system is tested detailedly.
