Abstract:

A new curve called the cubic e-cardinal spline curve constructed by a set of special cubic basis functions is discussed. The cubic e-cardinal spline curve presents an extension of the cardinal spline curve. Its shape depends on two pararneters ,λ,a, and the limiting case of α→0 is the cardinal spliine curve. The surface is constructed with the tensor product method. Its property is analogous with the curve. Examples show that the curve/surface can be used to free-form curves and surface modeling.
