Abstract

In order to enable the blind and visually impaired groups to send text messages, a Braillebased embedded processor SEP4020 input method is presented. Aiming at the characteristics of the Braille language, a six Braille input mode is designed, and the extraction methods and steps of Braille on the touch screen are presented. On this basis the Braille language is converted into the Chinese Phonetic Alphabet, so that ordinary people would be able to read the message sent by the blind .Finally the text "Hello" is sent as an example to analyze the process of SMS and the encoding method of PDU, and the system is successfully transplanted to the development platform. The experimental results show that the touch screen input Braille language can correctly be accessed, and the converted pinyin can successfully be sent via wireless modules, and the feasibility and effectiveness of this approach is proved.
