Tagging is one of the most important means regarding to the management and maintenance of the semistructured or unstructured data within the personal dataspace. However, in the presence of the networking environment, how to incorporate the tagging technique with the personal information management model can be tricky and the prerequisite of data management and sharing. In this paper, a distributed personal information management architecture supporting the content management of sharing is proposed. The data model and the operational service model are also discussed to support various management services at the granularity of the personal information item. A prototyping system is developed for the preliminary validation purpose.
