Abstract:

To study and design a high-performance fiber channel （FC） switch,we should determine exactly its functions first. Starting with the F-port, which is the most basic and simple port on a FC switch, we partition the FC-FS protocol functionally according to the manners for a FC switch to process differe nt types of data. The functions of a F-port in the protocol processing procedure is extracted from the FC-FS protocol and analyzed in detail, with the behavioral model built in the end.
