Abstract:
In this article, we firstly introduce the obstacles in the design of a 10Gbps serial backplane and how to estimate the performance of a channel accurately with specification. And then, we build a model and simulate its performance by the S parameter and eye diagram based on a typical backplane channel. In order to analyze the significant impact of crosstalk, we especially build a model of two sidebyside channels and analyze its NEXT and FEXT from the S parameter, and compare the eye openings of the signal transmitted with different crosstalks. The simulation results indicate that the impact of crosstalks with two different analysis methods can keep consistent and may be tolerated without errors. Finally, the performance of the backplane channel which has been verified by a test board can meet the specification of 10Gbps signal transmission.
