Abstract:
The highlights of realworld objects are usually induced by specular reflection which has a complex nonlinear expression and brings difficulties to its realtime rendering. Therefore, a realtime rendering technology using texture mapping for the specular surface is proposed in this paper. In detail, the Phong BRDF model with a specular expression is decomposed into multiple precomputed functions, which are in turn stored as texture maps. Combining these textures by multitexture leads to substantial rendering for specular surfaces. The experimental results show that our algorithm improves significantly the rendering performance.
