The Measurement and Analysis of Pulsed Current Waveforms with Moving Conductors Using a Loop Probe

Abstract:

In addition to using the ROGOWSKI probe to measure the transient current, the currents can also be measured by the magnetic loop probes. The transient currents of the linear generator are measured, which accelerate the armatures to a high speed. The line current models are used to describe the current situations, and the transient currents can be measured by the loop probe. Because the measured magnetic field is mainly contributed by the nearby currents, it is little relationship between transient current waveforms and the moving armature in certain cases. In order to get the probe coefficient for variable current waveforms, the coefficient is analyzed separately for the rising, flat and falling period of the current waveform. The experimental results show that the currents measured by the loop probe are consistent with the currents measured by the calibrated ROGOWSKI probes.
