Layered peeling algorithm of volume rendering
based on Laplacian of Gaussian

Abstract:

It is difficult to solve the problem of interorganizational occlusion by only modifying the transfer function, especially the occlusion between the same kind of tissues. The principle of edge detection is used to solve the problem above. In order to conquer the shortcoming that the gradientbased layered peeling algorithm of volume rendering is difficult to choose the right gradient threshold, a method is proposed to judge the zerocrossing of the second derivative of the image and to determine the layered points of different organizations. For the sake of achieving the realtime effect, graphic processing unit is used to accelerate the algorithm. The experimental results show that the algorithm can provide a clear and realtime layered display of volume rendering automatically.
