Abstract:
Digital microfluidic (DMF)based biochips are a promising category of labonchips (LOCs), in which nanolitervolume fluid droplets are manipulated on a 2D electrode array. A key challenge in designing such chips and mapping labbench protocols to a LOC is to carry out the dilution process of biochemical samples efficiently. We present a solution preparation on the digital microfluidic biochips according to the mixer sources on the chips, and propose the corresponding dilution/mixing algorithm. The production of waste droplets and the error in concentration factor are discussed in the paper. Simulation results show that the proposed technique can make solution preparation efficiently and accurately.
