TM-CAM:An efficient soft error
tolerant content addressable memory

Abstract:

In integrated circuits, Content Addressable Memory (CAM) is one of the most sensitive units to soft errors, but the traditional faulttolerant technique, such as errorcorrecting coding techniques, cannot be applied to it due to its special structure. To address the problem, the paper proposes a simple but efficient soft error tolerant structure: TMCAM, which is based on the triplevalue match line and can detect any one bit error in the CAM. Experimental results show that the proposed TMCAM can effectively mitigate the soft error problem at very low cost.
